About Dr. Geraldine “Gerri” Rosa Henderson:

This award is offered in memory of Dr. Geraldine “Gerri” Rosa Henderson. A champion of social justice, Dr. Henderson published over fifty articles, books, or book chapters on the topics of global marketplace diversity, marketplace discrimination, urban marketing, and consumer networks. She was a recipient of the 2015 Kinnear Best Paper Award from the Journal of Public Policy & Marketing and a member of several editorial boards, including the Journal of Public Policy & Marketing and the International Journal of Advertising. In 2017, Dr. Henderson was inducted into the Hall of Fame by the PhD Project, an organization that works to advance workplace diversity by increasing the diversity of business school faculty. She also received a multicultural mentoring award from the American Marketing Association Foundation. Dr. Henderson was formerly on the faculty of Duke University, Howard University, the University of Texas at Austin and Northwestern University. She also taught at Stanford University, the University of Virginia, Thunderbird and in Executive Education at both Duke University and the University of California in Los Angeles.

About The Award:

Junior faculty represent a unique group of educators who symbolize the future of marketing education. Often, the contributions made by these faculty go unnoticed, influencing faculty retention. It is anticipated that this award will acknowledge the accomplishments of junior faculty and promote awareness of the needs of this distinct group of educators. The recipient will receive a $500 award to be used to enhance his or her teaching, research and service efforts.

Eligibility Requirements

 

Applicants must:

  • Demonstrate excellence in teaching, research or service.

  • Have received their eligible degree within the past 10 years.

  • Be a MEFA member.

  1. A letter of nomination from colleagues detailing the applicant’s contribution to teaching, research and/or service. Self-nominations are welcome. 

  2. The applicant’s current curriculum vitae. 

 

Nomination packets are due by May 31.
